Many people are quite scared of the reformer when they first see it as it looks quite intimidating and almost medieval. Put any fears you may have aside because after just one or two workouts on a reformer and you realise that it is the most versatile and effective piece of exercise equipment ever made…plus it’s great fun!
Reformer Pilates works on core stabilisation which is vital to everyone as well as muscle endurance, joint stability, muscle strength, balance, coordination and much more. It isn’t just for fitness though, it is great for rehabilitation purposes too as it allows our clients to exercise in a horizontal plane of motion and not be vertically loaded and weight bearing through their legs. For example if a client has had knee surgery or a knee injury, this horizontal plane enables you to strengthen the muscles of the leg through a larger range of motion using a lighter resistance than their body weight, speeding up their recovery through controlled movement.
Did you know? You can perform exercises on the reformer beds in lots of different body positions: – from your back, side, stomach, being seated, standing or on your knees.
Reformer Classes are now available on:
– Mondays at 2pm
– Tuesdays at 10am
– Tuesdays at 2pm
– Wednesdays at 6pm
– Thursdays at 5pm
A pre-assessment appointment with our physio’s is needed before you can join in on any of our fitness classes. This enables us to get to know you, your body and your goals.
