It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

As we all know, the last 2 years have been very difficult! We want to take this opportunity to bring awareness to routine Cancer screenings. Health services have been greatly impacted due to COVID-19 restrictions and because of this, there has been a significant decrease in screening mammograms.
In April 2020, around 1,100 screening mammograms were performed, compared to more than 74,000 in April 2018. Screening aims to detect Cancers early. To stop Cancer developing in the first place, or detecting Cancers when they are small.
If screening is delayed or missed, it’s possible that a precancerous abnormality may progress to Cancer, or Cancer may develop to a stage that is more difficult to treat. BreastScreen Victoria are open again with safety measures in place. So if you are over 50 or due for your next screening, please take this as your reminder to book in today!
